Session of EITI National Council Concerned Parties

A regular session of EITI (Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative) Concerned Parties National Council was held at the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies on the 20th of November. Nurlan Sauranbayev,Vice-Minister of Industry and New Technologies, chaired the Session.

Representatives of four parties within the Council: the RoK Parliament Lower Chamber (Majilis) members, governmental institutions, subsoil user-companies associations and NGOs took part in the Session.

The issues discussed were mainly related to introduction of new EITI standards, adopted this year by Sydney Global Conference, in Kazakhstan. The new standards shall be incorporated in one of the most fundamental documents of the Initiative which is EITI Work Plan and also in the content of the Terms of Reference for verification and the forms to be filled-in attached thereto.

Furthermore, the National Council made a decision to carry out an analytical survey within the World Bank Joint Economic Researches Program to assess the opportunities for new requirements introduction in the country in post-validation period.
