Results of the investment activities of subsoil users in the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2012

1. Investments in subsoil use

Amount of investments in subsoil use of the mineral resources sector (not counting the hydrocarbon investments) in 2012 is 1186553.2 million tenge (M KZT), including: exploration: 31538.2 M KZT (3% of the total investment amount), other investments: 1155014.9 M KZT (97%).

Prioritized areas of investments are copper facilities — 216901 M KZT, which amounts to 18% of the total volume of investments in 2012 (1186553.2 M KZT), as well as large investments toward the prioritized minerals: for coal — 183521 M KZT (16% of all investments); for uranium — 172627.6 M KZT (15%); for polymetals (lead, zinc) — 162090.3 M KZT (14%); for iron, manganese — 148601.1 M KZT (13%), for gold — 122159.2 M KZT (10%); for common minerals — 52119.9 M KZT (4%); for chromites — 50315.5 M KZT (4%); for aluminum (bauxites) — 25033 (2%); for underground water — 9129.8 (1%); for phosphites — 8853.2 M KZT (1%); for other minerals — 35201.5 M KZT (2%).

2. Socio-economic indicators, taxation

Size of the facilities staff was 132,000. Social sector and local infrastructure received 11983.6 mln tenge in investments. Training of Kazakhstani specialists cost T 2778.3 million tenge.
Over 2012, taxation and state revenue payments amounted to 301989.3 million tenge, including:
— subsoil tax — 142766.8 M KZT (47% of total public revenue / taxes);
— corporate income tax — 69714.3 M KZT (23%);
— social tax — 15405.9 M KZT (5%);
— VAT — 15300.6 M KZT (5%);
— excess profit tax — 14298.5 M KZT (5%);
— other taxes and payments — 44503.2 M KZT (15%).
